Steve Dearden, Co-Director of The Writing Squad writes …

Tonight we had the first meeting of the Project H team in Hull Central Library’s James Reckitt Reading Room. Hull writers Alex, Astrid, Josh, Lydia, Owen and Zoe met up with Writing Squad writers Chaz Josephs and Katherine Horrex.

Over the next twelve months we will develop something to share at the 2015 Humber Mouth literature festival. We haven’t decided what yet – what genre, what media, what platform, whether we will work together as a group on one idea, or work individually or in smaller groups on several.  There’s time for all that.

This evening we just said hello, talked about our writing, our reading, talked about Hull and did a couple of writing exercises.  And we agreed to meet again in January.  You get a feel for groups of writers pretty quickly and, on tonight’s evidence, I’m certain we are going to enjoy producing something remarkable for next November.
